Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Women’s Leadership Society
In light of the recent conversations around racism experienced by Black members of the USC community, spearheaded by the @blackatusc Instagram account and reinforced by the country’s Black Lives Matter movement, our organization stands as an active proponent of the movement to create a more equitable community at USC. It is our responsibility as a cohort of female leaders at USC Annenberg to advocate for a better and more inclusive environment for all.
WLS is an antiracist organization. We strive to not only create space for women leaders inclusive of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, disability status, and any other form of identity, but also honor the identities of our women leaders, elevate their work, and identify opportunities for their professional and personal growth. As such, our professional society does not tolerate racial discrimination or micro-aggressive behaviors of any kind. In its ongoing commitment to amplify BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) voices both in its internal membership and external events, the Women’s Leadership Society will continue its history of hosting and engaging with a diverse variety of speakers.
We recognize that change will not simply emerge from a short message, but rather from consistent and active work necessary to make progress. Further, this statement will continue to evolve and be updated annually as we strive to find new ways to promote inclusivity and equality of all kinds as an organization. On this journey, our mission to connect, inform, and inspire will remain at the forefront of all we do.
