Award-winning news operation Annenberg TV News has been selected to live stream President Barack Obama's speech at USC on Friday, Oct. 22.
ATVN executive producers Christian Martinez and Matt Schrader, both seniors majoring in broadcast journalism, will oversee operations on the day of the speech. ATVN expects as many as 50 student reporters to cover news throughout the day, with some arriving as early as 5 a.m. to start working on stories.
"This is a huge deal for us," Martinez said. "In the future, I'll always be able to say that when I was at USC I helped cover President Obama. It's really cool to be a part of history in the making."
Other student media, including Neon Tommy, Annenberg Radio News, and the Daily Trojan, will also report on events as they unfold throughout the day.
ATVN's live stream is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., while the rally starts one hour later. USC student media will also be updating their Twitter pages throughout the day.
"It's not every year a president speaks on campus," Schrader said. "We're all excited to be at the front of all of this. Time was short to prepare, but we're making it happen."
