The USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism is launching an all-new website, created in partnership with The Washington Post’s technology team. Powered by The Post’s Arc custom publishing platform, USCAnnenbergMedia.com features digital content produced by the school’s converged, student-run multimedia news organization.
“USC’s innovative student newsroom demands flexible and nimble technology that can meet today’s digital needs as well as adapt to changes in the future. Arc equips students with the same state-of-the-art technology used by Washington Post reporters and editors, giving them real-world experience in an intuitive, easy-to-use interface,” said Shailesh Prakash, Chief Technology Officer at The Washington Post. “Our university partners are an important part of Arc’s expanding client base and we are pleased to work with USC as they develop journalism’s next generation.”
USC Annenberg Media [uscannenbergmedia.com] will serve as the new digital home and primary publishing outlet for all of the school’s student-led multimedia teams, integrating video, audio, digital and social media data.
The school’s media teams, digital-first and highly collaborative, work out of the new, cutting-edge Julie Chen/Leslie Moonves and CBS Media Center. Students produce daily and long-form content covering news, politics, diversity, sports and entertainment, among many other topics.
The first iteration of the website launches on Jan. 21. Student teams will expand the variety of content and design new layouts to feature additional shows and projects that will go into production over the next few weeks.
“The Washington Post partnership offered our faculty and students a one-of-a kind opportunity to collaborate on a new media platform with their world class tech team, which is so clearly committed to empowering the next generation of journalists,” said Willow Bay, Director of the USC Annenberg School of Journalism.
“USCAnnenbergMedia.com highlights the breadth of our coverage and the sophisticated multimedia content produced by our students. It will give a new audience a glimpse of the unique opportunities available to USC Annenberg students in our journalism, PR and communication programs,” Bay said.
