Fishbowl LA’s Richard Horgan covered a story published on the USC Annenberg website about Associate Director and Journalism Professor Bill Celis’ summer internship at Southern California Public Radio station 89.3 KPCC.
Horgan pulled an excerpt from the original piece that describes Celis’ re-immersion into a newsroom as crucial and lists his previous credentials as education correspondent at The New York Times and reporter and columnist at the Wall Street Journal.
“When this particular intern peeks over the shoulder of a KPCC news reporter,” Horgan wrote, “he can offer a lot more than just a simple cursor-proofread.”
Horgan considers the main takeaway of the piece written by recent public relations graduate Kristen Villarreal that there is always something valuable to be learned from the ever-evolving digital media workplace. Celis said his internship at KPCC will allow him to “take advantage of the up-to-the-minute new news ecosystem.”
