USC’s Blackstone Launchpad has teamed with Google and local mobile platform development startup Victorious to host a Google TV hackathon at USC Annenberg this Saturday, February 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
YouTube celebrity and USC Cinematic Arts alumnus FreddieW will be in attendance. The event, which will take place in the Annenberg Innovation Lab and Blackstone Launchpad facility (the ASC west lobby), is expected to bring together developers from around Southern California. Attendees will arrange into small groups, known as pods, to dig into Google TV developer code and work on building the next generation of platforms and apps.
The event comes on the heels of last November’s HackSC, an open hackathon that saw more than 750 developers from universities all over California take over the entire ASC building. Saturday’s event is the first of its kind, focused specifically on Google’s Android TV and will not be quite as large, but the Blackstone team expects about 150 developers to take part.
