Journalism professor emeritus Clancy Sigal wrote a Sept. 18 article for the Guardian "Divided We Fall." His op-ed refers to the way in which strict political divisions in Germany fed the war. Sigal uses Germany's past to warn Americans about the consequences of stubborn political disagreements. Instead, Sigal suggests a "harmony of dissonance." "A coalition of vastly different opinions is not a love-marriage. But it's an alliance of sorts to work together, if possible, on a national repair job," Sigal wrote. Despite obvious disagreements between American political parties, wrote Sigal, "areas of agreement can be explored, negotiated, argued about." Read "Divided We Fall"
