The December issue of NewsPro, "The Magazine for News Professionals," ranked USC Annenberg No. 5 on its list (see page 22) of top journalism schools in the country. Other schools in the top five included Syracuse’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, Northwestern’s Medill School, Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and the University of Missouri at Columbia’s School of Journalism. NewsPro and TVWeek.com distributed the survey to its readers, with 438 people participating. The survey also asked which courses should be taught in journalism schools. "Writing" and "reporting" were the top responses. Students and alumni have already started spreading the news on social media sites. Some, such as alumnae Katie Kim and McKenna Keil, hinted that USC Annenberg may have been underrated. Kim tweeted "only 5?! number 1 in my heart :)" and Keil tweeted "#1 to me."
