NBC executives have selected graduate students Shawna Thomas (pictured, top) and Leo Juarez (pictured, bottom) for the NBC News Associates Program. Only five students are selected each year from a pool of hundreds of students from the best journalism schools in the country. According to NBC, more than 75 percent of News Associates who have completed the program have gone on to various producing positions with NBC News, including Dateline, NBC Nightly News, Today, MSNBC, CNBC, or the network's Burbank bureau. "The NBC News Associates program is highly competitive," said journalism professor Serena Cha, who supervises Annenberg TV News. "It has helped launch the careers of several USC Annenberg graduates. We are very proud that Shawna and Leo were chosen for this tremendous opportunity. The continued success of our students winning these positions shows that news organizations recognize the caliber of our students and the education they receive."
