Amy Tenowich, a first year broadcast journalism graduate student, is the 2006 winner of the Art Buchwald Scholarship. The prize, named for the Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist and USC Annenberg journalism school alumnus, is awarded annually on April 1 to a student selected for humor writing. According to Buchwald, who provides financial support for the $5,000 scholarship, the winning student "should be anti-establishment and contemptuous of the scholarship he or she is receiving ... If the person is on probation for something that he or she wrote, that should be considered a plus." Tenowich is from Encino, California and holds a B.A. in anthropology from UCLA. Her award-winning columns were previously published by the Daily News of Los Angeles.
