Latinos '08, a documentary produced by USC Annenberg's Institute for Justice and Journalism senior fellow Phillip Rodriguez, airs Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. on PBS stations nationwide, including KCET in Los Angeles.
Rodriguez received funding through Dean Ernest J. Wilson's 3-I's initiative to support work on the project and the School is acknowledged in the production credits.
Latinos '08 was praised in Oct. 8's New York Times by reviewer Neil Genzlinger, who writes: "It’s not often that a documentary makes the case for its own spuriousness, but in a sense that’s what “Latinos ’08” eventually does. That may sound like a criticism, but it’s intended as a compliment: this zippy little film about the Hispanic vote in the current American presidential election isn’t afraid to turn conventional wisdom on its head, including the conventional wisdom that there is even such a thing as a Hispanic vote."
