K.C. Cole elected member of Sigma Xi

Science journalist and USC Annenberg visiting professor K.C. Cole will be inducted as an honorary life member of Sigma Xi, the international honor society for research scientists and engineers. An award-winning journalist and author, she will be honored at the society's Annual Meeting and Student Research Conference in Orlando, Fla., later this year. The honor is reserved for "distinguished individuals...who have served science, or the Society, in a manner or to a degree that merits such recognition."

Throughout her career, Cole has been a science writer and columnist for the Los Angeles Times and has contributed to publications including The New Yorker, The Smithsonian and Esquire. She is also the author of seven nonfiction books including her most recent "Mind Over Matter: Conversations With the Cosmos."
