USC Annenberg alumna Lauren Whaley (M.A. Specialized Journalism 2010) and Jake De Grazia (M.A. Specialized Journalism 2012) recently married in New York in the midst of Hurricane Irene. Currently a multimedia reporter for the California HealthCare Foundation Center for Health Reporting in Alhambra, Calif., Whaley wrote an article titled “A Wedding Crasher named Irene,” which appeared in the Sept. 4 edition of the New York Times.
“We all ran through the pouring rain, jumping puddles across the farm,” wrote Whaley, "soaking-wet aunts, uncles, cousins and friends were dancing, singing and scavenging the heirloom tomatoes, homemade organic mozzarella and rum punch left over from the postceremony cocktail hour.”
