Foresight is 2020: Racial justice and the arts
Monday, October 12, 2020 – Wednesday, October 14, 2020
(All day)
Online
America draws its breath as a summer of global protests against systemic racism and police brutality towards Black and Brown people has set the scene for the 2020 election. Its outcome will determine how the country reckons with modern-day racism. Concurrently, USC has arrived at its own critical moment and is forced to confront its own record of racial inequities. How can we chart a new path to empower BIPOC voices and thought across the university?
"Foresight Is 2020: Racial Justice and the Arts" will explore this historic moment through the lenses of artists and educators. Four evenings of performance, discussion, and practical reimagining will spotlight the work of USC faculty, students, alumni, and guests from Los Angeles and beyond. Foresight Is 2020 asks: What does a nation free of institutional racism look like, and how can the arts provide a vehicle for reaching it?
