Join USC Annenberg Career Development to have Lunch with a Leader, Amy DuBois Barnett. Attend a discussion with Barnett covering topics such as her professional journey from student to professional, experience working in media, and advice for students on mentorship, and entering the workforce.
An award-winning C-suite executive, Barnett has held senior leadership roles at Paramount, Hearst, Disney, and Time Inc., and has also successfully grown several independently owned media brands. She is currently a senior advisor for Bravo Mondo, a newly formed private equity investment firm. Barnett joined Bravo Mondo from Outside Interactive, Inc., the world’s leading platform for outdoor sports and healthy living enthusiasts where she oversaw the company’s 16 media brands and their digital video/television arm, Outside Studios, as their first-ever chief content officer.
Barnett has previous experience at both ESPN and Ebony (as a senior executive and editor-in-chief, respectively). In addition, Barnett is the author of the NAACP Image Award-nominated book, Get Yours: How to Have Everything You Ever Dreamed of and More. In 2014, she served as an adjunct professor at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. A professional public speaker and frequent television commentator, Barnett was a weekly on-air correspondent for CNN and has been featured on many national shows including The Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN Tonight with Don Lemon, The Early Show, The Katie Show, Nightline, and on various programs on MSNBC, VH1, MTV, and BET.
Barnett has a BA from Brown University and an MFA from Columbia University. She has lived in 12 cities on three continents and is fluent in French. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her seventeen-year-old son, Max.
