Recent Publications and Presentations:

• In March, I presented at the Gender and Music: Practices, Performance, Politics conference at the Örebro University School of Music, Theatre and Art in Örebro, Sweden. My presentation was titled “Sing Along? Lyrical Representations of Gender in No. 1 Songs on the Billboard Hot 100.”
• In June, I will present at the International Communication Association's annual conference in Fukuoka, Japan. My paper, which was co-authored with fellow second year Annenberg doctoral students Rogelio Alejandro Lopez, Kate Miltner, and Courtney Cox, is entitled "From Twitter to the Streets: A Mixed-Methods Study of Contemporary Activist Practices."

Research and Extracurricular Involvement:

• The Norman Lear Center's Popular Music Project (PMP)
• I am assisting Professor Josh Kun on a large scale research grant on the musical connections between Latin America and Los Angeles as part of the Getty Foundation's Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA art initiative. Their work will result in a series of public events and installations, as well as a catalog of essays.

Favorite thing about USC Annenberg: USC Annenberg is a great mix of students and scholars who are interested in a diverse array of research topics and bring together eclectic experiences, insights, and backgrounds. My fellow doctoral students and candidates are curious, innovative, and driven, and the Annenberg School is unyielding in its support of our many research endeavors, wherever they may take us.
